Jóruklettur rock lies just upstream from the Ölfusá bridge, and the tree growing there catches the eye of many passersby. Questions about how it came to grow on the small islet, surrounded by the swift-flowing river, have lingered for years — and now there is hope that some answers may finally emerge.
This Saturday, members of the boat unit of the Árborg Rescue Association will ferry forestry workers out to Jóruklettur rock, a rocky island in the Ölfusá river near Selfoss. Their mission is to measure a striking spruce tree that has been growing there and has recently drawn much attention.
